Senior Cost Accountant

Job Description 

Reporting to SimpliSafe’s Accounting Manager, you will work cross functionally with the Accounting, Warehouse and Manufacturing Operations teams and primarily be responsible for inventory data management across the SimpliSafe’s captive and third-party warehouses. You will help streamline the inventory-close process and co-own the inventory life cycle by managing all inventory transactions within the ERP system, reviewing and assisting with cyclical inventory counts, analyzing inventory count variances and reconciling inventory data.  

Note: This role is remote with travel to the office as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the general ledger and monthly financial close process through preparation of balance sheet inventory account reconciliations
  • Perform detailed analysis and reporting of cost of revenue on a monthly basis
  • Coordinate quarterly consigned inventory analysis and adjustments across all locations
  • Support year end audit for inventory support
  • Track Inventory in transit within the ERP
  • Coordinate and oversee execution of physical inventory and cycle counts
  • Reconcile and analyze inventory on-hand and physical inventory counts within all warehouse locations
  • Track, report and resolve errors and inventory discrepancies
  • Review and audit inventory transactions within the ERP
  • Maintain inventory accounting reports that compare open purchase orders, inventory receipts and matched receipts, with adequate variance analysis
  • Review bill of material costs to ensure accuracy in the ERP
  • Ensure SKU management is accurately maintained between CRM and ERP
  • Act as the key liaison between SimpliSafe’s captive warehouses and 3PL partners, ensuring 3PL transactions are accurately transacted within the ERP
  • Investigate inventory stock variances reported at SimpliSafe’s big-box retail partners
  • Collaborate with the Retail and Warehouse teams to ensure the retail returns process operates smoothly 

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • 3+ years corporate (or mix of public and private) accounting experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross functional teams
  • Enterprise ERP experience (NetSuite preferred)
