What You'll Do

The Manager of Financial Reporting will report to the Controller and fill a key role on the finance team at SimpliSafe. This role will work extensively with members inside and outside the finance function providing technical accounting guidance. This role will be integral in assisting in the redesign or strengthening of accounting policies and processes that contribute to more efficient growth and operational effectiveness. 

For the right candidate, this role will be an incredibly rewarding opportunity to help a fast-growing finance team build enhanced policies and financial reporting processes and scale to even higher levels.

Primary Responsibilities Include 

  • Assist with technical accounting topics  and various finance projects
  • Manage account reconciliations for key areas including leases, debt, capitalization of costs, and judgmental accounting reserves
  • Assist with treasury tasks, such as cash flow forecast
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and supplemental financial schedules
  • Support the accounting close by organizing and leading period-end review meetings
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, including documentation and implementation of internal controls, to improve accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting
  • Stay up to date with changes in GAAP and other accounting standards and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations
  • Work with various cross-functional partners on accounting impacts of business initiatives 
  • Develop and deliver finance and accounting trainings
  • Support the external audit process

What You’ll Bring

  • 6-8 years of relevant experience from public accounting and/or large public company
  • Big 4 public accounting experience highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
  • Expert knowledge of U.S. GAAP; in-depth knowledge of SaaS, e-commerce and/or inventory accounting preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in appropriate accounting treatment and reporting policies of routine and complex transactions
  • Comfortable challenging organizational norms to improve operating effectiveness
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, with recognized project management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and act in a consultative and teaching role
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to build relationships with all levels of the organization 
  • Ability to learn and understand financial accounting systems/software: NetSuite, Zuora, and/or Concur experience a plus skillset
