What You'll Do

We are a growing start-up team of engineers, designers, researchers, and product folks inside of SimpliSafe based in downtown Boston. Our team works autonomously using state-of-the-art advances in technology to solve real-world problems that transform our security products and monitoring services. 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff-level Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leveraging cutting-edge computer vision and machine learning techniques to develop and implement innovative solutions across various domains. You will play a crucial role in designing and implementing data-driven algorithms and models to extract meaningful insights from complex visual data, with the goal of advancing our organization's capabilities and driving business growth. 

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Develop and implement computer vision and machine learning algorithms and models to analyze and extract valuable information from large-scale visual data. 
  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate and validate the performance of developed algorithms and models. 
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and domain experts, to identify business requirements and translate them into actionable solutions. 
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in computer vision and machine learning research and apply them to solve real-world problems. 
  • Preprocess and clean large-scale visual datasets to ensure data quality and suitability for training and testing models. 
  • Explore and utilize various deep learning frameworks and libraries for model development and deployment. 
  • Optimize and fine-tune models for performance, scalability, and efficiency. 
  • Collaborate with data engineers to design and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure necessary for efficient data processing. 
  • Communicate and present findings, methodologies, and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively. 

What You'll Bring

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on computer vision, machine learning, or image processing.
  • Solid understanding of computer vision principles, image processing techniques, and deep learning architectures. 
  • Strong programming skills in Python, along with proficiency in relevant libraries and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or OpenCV. 
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing computer vision and machine learning algorithms and models. 
  • Familiarity with large-scale data preprocessing, including data cleaning, augmentation, and normalization techniques. 
  • Experience with cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) and distributed computing frameworks is a plus. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to stay updated with the latest advancements in computer vision and machine learning research.
