What You’ll Do:

SimpliSafe is seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Firmware Quality En to lead our team of test automation engineers. The successful candidate will ensure the quality of embedded software in SimpliSafe’s hardware security products, leveraging their extensive programming skills in Python.

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Lead a team of engineers to deliver high-quality releases on time, developing, executing, and automating feature-level and system-level tests.
  • Review and contribute to firmware specifications, creating comprehensive test plans with stakeholder buy-in, and validating that features meet requirements.
  • Quantify system performance metrics, including reliability, scalability, load, and throughput, and improve automation suites and test harnesses.
  • Communicate test details, result summaries, and release status clearly and efficiently across multiple organizational levels.
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers, fostering their career development and ensuring they perform the roles above effectively

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience of leading a team of software engineers
  • Proficiency in Python programming, with demonstrable experience in leveraging Python-based automation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and their practical application within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Capability to operate both independently and within team settings, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, facilitating clear and efficient interaction across multiple organizational levels.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong expertise in Python3 and PyTest, as well as CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions or equivalent infrastructure.
  • Practical experience in wireless communication protocols such as WiFi, Bluetooth, and LTE.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols and standards, including but not limited to TCP/IP and Ethernet.
  • Experience with testing audio and video technologies.
