What You'll Do

SimpliSafe’s Home Security Platform organization is looking for a Sr. Manager of Technology to lead our User Platform team. This team enables our customers to manage their account and subscription plan, and ensures customers have access to important information about what’s happening in their home security system. In this team, you’ll help us maintain the high degrees of reliability and performance needed to make every home secure, while supporting the introduction of exciting new security capabilities for years to come.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee a team of roughly 10 engineers 
  • Grow leaders within your team, empowering them to execute independently 
  • Collaborate with product management to build a roadmap that balances short-term wins and multi-year big bets in your domain 
  • Define KPIs that reflect both the business impact of your team and the health of the systems you own, and use them to make data-based decisions about where to invest 
  • Help your team craft a technical vision that creates step function improvements in reliability and performance while enabling independent value delivery 

The ideal candidate has experience leading agile teams and a passion for developing people and acting as a force multiplier, while having the technical strength to get in the weeds and accurately assess and grow individual and team performance. 

What You'll Bring

  • Be collaborative by nature 
  • Be adept at building consensus to solve technical and organizational challenges
  • Enjoy challenges and problem solving, helping to scale your team’s work and accelerate delivery via continuous improvement 
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience, with a track record of delivering flexible and reliable cloud-based systems 
  • 3+ years of people management experience 
  • Experience with Rust, Typescript, NodeJS and AWS is helpful but not required
  • Experience in an consumer electronics and/or subscription business model is helpful but not required
