Senior Manager FP&A Engineering

To support this mission, SimpliSafe is seeking a highly motivated, self-starting FP&A Senior Manager to support the evolving Engineering, Technology and IT function reporting to the VP, Financial Planning and Analysis. This person will look to leverage best practices of world-class FP&A functions, tailoring these to meet SimpliSafe’s needs as a fast-growing, agile company. The ideal candidate will have experience in building for scale and an ability to roll up their sleeves. No job can be too big or too small for the team driving strategic insight when you’re changing the industry!

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute directly to our growth and help provide direction to our organization. You will join a small but growing FP&A team and will interact directly with cross functional groups and executive leadership. What You’ll Do:

  • Form trusted advisory partnerships with members of the Engineering, Technology and IT leadership teams providing analytical and financial support to assist business achieve operational goals and strategy
  • Partner with leaders of Enterprise Information Systems, IT and InfoSec to provide financial and operational impact of existing and new initiatives.  Assist with prioritization of future roadmaps and required investments
  • Provide critical thinking and guidance to evaluate financial and business impact of key initiatives and strategic decision making
  • Establish effective budgeting and forecasting operational process to the organization
  • Play a critical role in managing performance of your business partners, e.g., budget governance, monthly operating reviews, forecasting, and performance to support topline growth and bottom-line profitability targets
  • Assist in preparation of performance reporting packages to be presented to key stakeholders including senior management and Board of Directors
  • Improve visibility and optimization of resource allocation for engineering and technology programs

What You’ll Bring:

  • 6-8 years of experience with consumer products and technology; specifically with engineering and product development 
  • Proven success in stakeholder management; ability to serve as a trusted advisor and gain a seat at the table with Engineering leadership team
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and capacity to direct, produce, and communicate financial analyses at an executive level
  • Strong business acumen and financial modeling skills required
    • Experience with budget / forecast development, establishing KPIs to define success, and profitability & unit economics analyses is ideal
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint, financial modeling, and data analytics
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting and financial statement modeling
  • Self-starter who can take on significant responsibility and drive process change independently
  • Team player with an exceptional work ethic
  • Intellectual curiosity with rigorous attention to detail and a passion for problem solving
  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA desirable
